Army Man Figure 9x12 Oil On Canvas by Ryan Louder

Army Man is an original figurative oil painting on canvas by London artist Ryan Louder — a 2018 portrait where a capped figure in teal-green stares out of solid black, the face present but unresolved, two red marks on the hat with no explanation. Dark figurative art from his REM intrusion collection.

Paintings like this come from working with no sketch or plan — the image surfaces as the paint lands, the same way REM intrusion surfaces dream imagery while I'm awake. My narcolepsy was clinically confirmed at Guy's Hospital in London, and this is what the in-between looks like on canvas. The two red marks on the hat stayed because I never understood them. The good ones usually start that way.

Carefully packed and sent fully insured from my London studio. Unframed and one of one — when it's gone, it's gone. An A3 print edition is also available.
