Ballet Dress Rehearsal is an original oil painting on canvas by London artist Ryan Louder — an atmospheric figurative study capturing the quiet solitude of preparation before the stage. A seated ballerina turns away from the viewer in the shadows of a dark rehearsal hall, her luminous bare shoulders and vivid teal tutu glowing against rich charcoal and umber tones. Painted in 2025, measuring 30.5 x 40.6 cm (12 x 16 inches).
Original oil painting on canvas. One of one, unframed. An archival A3 fine art print is also available via the options above.
Painted spontaneously without preliminary sketches or studies. Diagnosed with narcolepsy with REM intrusion hallucinations at Guy's Hospital London, Ryan's work channels the heightened sensory clarity and stillness of hypnagogic states directly onto canvas. The cool theatre light filtering across the dancer's spine captures that private, inward moment where art is perfected in silence.
