Bird Preening is an original oil painting on canvas by London artist Ryan Louder, measuring 24 x 36 inches (61 x 91 cm). Rendered in a rich monochromatic spectrum of blues, from soft powder cyan to deep oceanic navy, the composition captures an intimate wildlife moment with sweeping, fluid brushwork that balances contemporary expressionism with delicate avian grace.
The form emerges through expressive motion before resolving into the silhouette of a solitary bird bent into its own plumage. The quiet intimacy of preening—unobserved and unhurried—creates an atmospheric focal point suited to modern living rooms, bedrooms, or dedicated gallery walls.
Painted in my London studio directly onto stretched canvas without preliminary sketches. As an artist diagnosed with narcolepsy and REM intrusion, dream visuals frequently surface during waking consciousness; the softened edges and atmospheric light mirror that lived perceptual transition between conscious reality and dream states.
Available as the unique original oil painting on canvas, unframed, shipped fully insured and tracked worldwide. Also available as an open-edition archival A3 fine art print.
