Impressionistic oil painting of the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace, 40 x 30 cm, painted in 2024, from a sketch made on the spot.
They close the roads for the ceremony, so I got stuck. I sat down with Seidel on a patch of grass outside the palace and sketched the guards going through it, the crowd pressed to the barrier. This oil painting on canvas came out of that sketch.
London paintings work best when I was actually there. The guards move in that half ridiculous, half magnificent slow motion, and I wanted the paint to move the same way, quick strokes, everything caught mid-step.
Original oil painting on canvas, unframed, shipped tracked and protected.
