Devotion by Ryan Louder

Original oil painting on canvas by London artist Ryan Louder — an evocative, dreamlike portrait from 2017 rendered in bold crimson, vermilion, and pale chalk tones. A hooded face fills the canvas edge-to-edge, gazing forward with large, luminous eyes that hover between reverie, sacred iconography, and apparition. Part of his REM intrusion collection.

Original oil painting on canvas. One of one, unframed. An open-edition A3 fine art print is also available via the options above.

The image draws directly from hypnopompic face hallucinations, where figures hover vividly at the threshold of waking. Shaped by my neurological condition — narcolepsy with REM intrusion, clinically diagnosed at Guy's Hospital in London — the boundaries between observer and vision dissolve. Stripping away background context leaves only pure presence and quiet devotion.

Carefully packaged and dispatched fully insured from my London studio. One of one — when it's gone, it's gone.
