Midnight At The Market is an original oil painting on canvas, 20 by 16 inches (51 by 41 cm), painted in 2024. Late-night figures glowing under the stall lights — a scene that feels almost otherworldly.
I wanted to catch the fleeting exchanges between people at a market after dark: muted figures slipping into the fabric of the night, the lights shimmering, the boundary between reality and imagination gone soft. The figures are grounded, but only just. It's a reflection on connection — the brief kind, the kind that happens at a stall at midnight and is gone by morning.
Size and presentation
Oil on canvas, 2024. Sold unframed; it frames cleanly and the night tones read deepest behind glass.
About the artist
I'm a London-based painter. My work is a direct record of REM intrusion — dream imagery that arrives while I'm awake — which is documented in my NHS medical records. The paintings hold that state: layered, vivid, half-waking, the boundary between the dream world and the waking one worn thin.
