Swan Lake is a large original oil painting on canvas, 74 by 120 cm (29 by 47 inches). I painted it live at my shop in Greenwich Market.
The night before, I saw Swan Lake on stage. It was stunning. The movement of the dancers stayed with me, and so did the colours of the set. This is what came out of the next day at the stall — the ballet as it kept moving in my head, figures pulled mid-motion, paint laid down as fast as the memory of it.
Size and presentation Painted in oil on canvas in 2024. It comes as rolled canvas, ready for a framer to stretch onto a backboard when framed.
About the artist I'm a London-based painter. My work is a direct record of REM intrusion — dream imagery that arrives while I'm awake — which is documented in my NHS medical records. The paintings hold that state: layered, vivid, half-waking, the boundary between the dream world and the waking one worn thin.
